Girls on the Beach

This is one of my favorite photos. I have no idea who these girls are, but they sure look like they are having a lot of fun. Their names are written in ink across the bottom: Mildred, Dorothy, Ann, and Sarah.

My best guess is that this picture was probably taken near Lake Erie around 1930. We think the girls were friends of one of my grandmothers. The tallest girl, “Dorothy”, may be her sister.

It’s good to remember that our grandmothers were not always the “old ladies” we knew. They too were once girls who played and danced and dreamed.
